A year ago today we made the difficult decision to place Tyler on hospice. Two days later he went to sleep forever. Reliving Ty’s last week, and the what if’s, the ‘could we have done something different?, thinking of how covid affected him, wishing for more time, wanting to go back... This week has been a whole lot of no sleep, or what sleep does come is filled with traumatic dreams.. Not wanting to wake up. Not wanting to go to sleep. While it may be the most selfless choice a parent has to make, it still comes with a trauma that we will forever carry with us. For we did not want to let him go. It feels like he should still be here. Brains have an interesting way of processing such deep loss. The Heart wants our babies to never feel pain or struggles and so we knew, and we know, he had to go…
my last
and greatest
act of love
was
to let you go.
